to the desk. >>> we begin with breaking news from oakland. police are investigating three homicides. there are two different scenes. one in oakland. one in west oakland and one in east oakland. ktvu alex savidge is live on walnut street. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. the sergeant here on scene told me in this case a woman was found stabbed to death early this morning. officers are still out here on scene. you can see a couple patrol cars parked out here on this street. the stabbing happened inside this apartment building in a second floor unit. we'll show you video we shot a short time ago. this is all taking place in the 5800 block of walnut. neighbors called 911 just about two hours ago. around 2:30 this morning. when officers aryed here on scene they went inside this unit and found this woman with multiple stab wounds and she died here on scene. a sergeant told me a short time ago police do have a possible suspect. a man in custody at this point. they are not saying much about who this person is. and the motive at least at this point according to the sergeant rem

in oakland. three people were killed in two separate incidents. a double shooting and a stabbing. alex savidge is live on walnut street where a woman was killed a few hours ago. >> this is still an active crime scene for oakland police. what they found here this morning was a woman that was stabbed to death. it's all playing out. the crime scene located inside this apartment building that is up the road here from us on the right hand side. you can see at least one squad car is parked outside. we want to show you video we shot in the last half hour. woman's body was found inside the second floor unit. this all began according to a sergeant when a neighborhood called 911 around 2:30 this morning. officers arrived and found a woman with multiple stab wounds. she eventually died here on scene. police have taken a man into custody who may have been responsible for the killings but at this point the sergeant tells me the motive for this stabbing remains unclear. meantime on the other side of the city oakland police are piecing together a shooting that left two people dead. the gunfire in tha

people were shot to death in the 800 block of mead avenue in west oakland. then at about 2:30, one person was killed in a stabbing on walnut street in the seminary area of oakland. police are investigating the possibility that the killings are related. >>> the chp pulled a bmw over for speeding in oakland last night but when officers walked toward the car the driver took off. a minute later crashed into a lincoln continental at the 98th avenue on-ramp to i-580. someone in the back seat of the lincoln was killed. the bmw's driver was caught shortly after taking off. >>> a shooting now under investigation at an east bay bart station. the 18-year-old victim is expected to recover. he was shot in the parking lot at the pittsburg-bay point station just before 7:00 last night. at this time, they don't have any suspects. the shooting and investigation caused some major delays though for bart riders. >>> gunfire from police hit the suspect at an el cerrito gas station. it happened last night just after 6:30. police say they came across a man pistol whipping a woman at a chevron station at

the -- at the oakland coliseum. he was on the third deck and fell or jumped onto the concrete floor on the lower concourse. it appears to have been an accident but police are still investigating. >>> the nfl commissioner is talking about a possible new stadium for the raiders. roger goodell was at last night's game and he says the league is willing to provide as much as $200 million to help build the stadium to keep the team in oakland. goodell says the league's investment would first require a deal between the raiders and oakland officials. we'll see what happens there. commissioner says the raiders and 49ers could possibly work out a deal to share a stadium. the new 49ers stadium in santa clara is topped out. workers have lifted two beams to the highest point of the structure. they were signed by the team, city leaders and hundreds of construction workers. they're moving right along with that. >> look at the two guys on the other side of the beam, they're up there a hundred feet. >>> a phone call and a persistent brother are credited for the rescue of a woman stranded in the snow in the sierra

francisco and about 60 in oakland. that's a look at weather. gianna, how's traffic? >> it's not too bad. we are starting to see a few break lights at the altamont pass westbound 580. eastbound 580 there is still roadwork in effect north greenville to north flynn at least one lane closed until with 11:00 today so expect delays on the eastbound side, as well. eastbound highway 4 at loveridge wrapping up in the next few minutes. right now all lanes still shut down for roadwork through there and better news along 101. we had three lanes completely shut down northbound near 92. that's now been cleared. we should get back up to speed within the next few minutes. accident blocking one lane still very early no delays as you work your way through there westbound 80 clear and in fact the eastshore freeway commute looks good. mass transit on time. bart under way with no delays. bart, ace, muni, caltrain and your ferries all no delays. there are street closures near folsom and essex. we are learning that the essex street ramp to the eastbound bay bridge connector is shut down. so we'll let you though w

found on a package at the laurel branch in oakland. oakland police tell me oakland fire received a call around 10 a.m. that an employee had an unknown substance leaking from a package. in less than 20 minutes, officials had cleared the facility of employees and customers. outside the building in the parking lot two employees of the office office reported signs coughing and eye irritation. those two employees are receiving treatment from first responders. back live i can tell you the oakland postmaster general has arrived. they are evacuating the situation. no one has been allowed to pass the barrier because they've not cleared the area. we have seen some of the first responders remove the haz-mat gear they had been wearing giving an indication that whatever threat there may have been, it may not still be active. once again they have not cleared the scene. we are waiting for a special person to give us more information. once we do, we will update you. nick smith, abc7 news. >>> president obama has set a deadline for gun control recommendations and he's not wasting time. other high profil

to the south and we will have the entire forecast dried up in san francisco and over in oakland. the storm is causing problems all over the bay area. >> reporter: brian, you know, it is the sunday before the christmas holiday. that mean ace lot of people are out this doing last-minute shopping and going to holiday parties. but, the weather has not made it easy for drivers out this on the road. they are looking at the conditions from earlier. the standing water is hurting traffic and slow-moving drivers. and wind warnings on the bridges. this powerful storm even brought down trees on panoramic highway. and people had to detour adding hours to their trip. listen to this guy. >> they are saying that there is no power. the fire department told me the road is closed because they need to clear the tree. that was 2-1/2 hours. that is how long to cheer the trees. four hours -- clear the trees four hours ago and nobody is cutting the tree and they now say you can not pass in 12 hours. >> now, these trees weigh at least a ton and will take hours to cheer. back live, we are watching traffic as drive

in oakland is now facing a vehicular manslaughter charge. the chp says it pulled over a bmw on 90th avenue near bancroft on thursday night. but the driver took off as officers approached the car. a short distance away it collided with another car, killing a 21-year-old woman. the suspect ran but officers caught him. >> he did not appear to be very much under the influence. he was able to exit his vehicle and flee the scene, so that would show that he is coherent. >> police are still looking for a passenger who was in the suspect's car. >>> three more murders brings oakland's homicide rate to its highest level since 2006. two men were shot to death early yesterday morning. an hour and a half later, a woman was stabbed to death. police did make an arrest in her murder, but not the others. the killings were in an area of west oakland known for gang activity. the city's homicide rate now stands at 130. that is up from last year's total of 110. >>> a sixth person faces murder and other charges in the case of a man and woman found bound and gagged on a san francisco street. the authorities say

that steady stream of traffic sneaking its way back up westbound. up next a look here at 880 near the oakland coliseum. you can see traffic flowing well in both directions. >>> a man is in the hospital after falling about 30 feet inside the coliseum in last nights raiders game. christien kafton is at the oakland coliseum with the investigation. good morning, christien. >> reporter: i have been texting the sheriffs office trying to find out more about this. here's what we do know during or right before last nights game a fan was on the third deck there. you can see how high that deck is there and either fell or jumped to the lower concourse below. the fan fell an estimated 30-50 feet to land on the concrete below. that fan fell during last nights raiders-broncos game. emt, police, and sheriffs deputies were on scene and able to respond quickly. there are conflicting reports over whether that fan fell or jumped. emergency workers took that fan to highland hospital just 3.5 miles away with serious injuries. his identity has not been released at this point. the raiders have released a statement s

. it happened yesterday. it was the third homicide this weekend in oakland. john alston said the shooting has raised concerns about growing crime in oakland. >> nearly four hours after the killing the victim's body was removed and oakland police opened up third street between broadway and franklin. the mid-afternoon shooting took place a few blocks to the entrance of the square where she just attended a social event. >> i feel unsafe in oakland. there's a lot going on and i'm afraid for my children to walk by themselves. i feel it's not older, younger, no one is safe. >> the crime scene is only about four blocks from police headquarters. officers happened to be in the middle of roll call and they got here rather quickly. >> they found a man in the middle of third street who was shot to death by apparently someone who escaped in a vehicle. police don't believe it was a random attack. some residents heard the gunshots. >> i was just thinking that noise we heard could have been gunshots it was pretty loud. sounded like a couple firecrackers going off actually. >> detectives hoped to see what hap
